Founded in 1909, Congregation Beth El is an inclusive and welcoming Jewish community, balancing traditional Jewish core strengths and values with a forward-looking perspective that respects our ever-evolving culture.
As the oldest active synagogue in Vermont, and long the spiritual home for area artists and intellectuals, CBE has a deep history of engaged Jewish practice and community. We continue to build on that inheritance as we evolve to meet the challenges of today with an eye toward future generations.
In our journey through a sustainable and secure second century, CBE offers a full range of dynamic Shabbat and holiday services, education, programs, and activities that appeal to a wide range of congregants, opportunities to socialize with our geographically dispersed membership, mutually rewarding collaborations and partnerships with other area Jewish organizations, and responsible financial stewardship.
CBE serves a broad geographic area including southwestern Vermont, northern Berkshire County in Massachusetts, and eastern Rensselaer and Washington counties in New York.
